Just to share some history and facts about coffee collected from the net. Coffee is one of the world’s largest trading commodities – second only to oil. It was an Ethiopian goatherd called Kaldi who discovered this 'power berry' when he noticed his herd behaving like young kids after eating some stimulating red coffee berries! The goat keeper shared his discovery with the abbot of a nearby monastery, who decided to test the power of the berry himself. He poured boiling water onto the berries he had collected and made a drink which he found helped him to stay awake during long hours of prayer. A friend once told that coffee is one of our Prophets Mohammad favourite drink.
There are many kind of coffee drinks for you to try, and some come with this really bombastic fancy name that I'm sure most of us are familiar with, and I'll try to compare them with our local coffee name :
- Espresso [rich, dark coffee with golden cream (foam) on top] = kopi O 'kaw' kasi tarik sikit sampai ade buih.
- Cappuccino [espresso + steamed milk in equal measure] = kopi [kopi + susu, sukatan ikut citarasa mau manis @ kurang manis]
- Latte [espresso + steamed milk + frothed milk (foam) on top] = kopi 'tarik'
- Granita de Caffe [espresso poured over crushed ice] = kopi O ais
- Mocha [1/3 espresso + 1/3 hot chocolate + 1/3 steamed milk] = Neslo [Nescafe + Milo + susu]
- Frappe [cold coffee, shaken with iced cubes] = kopi 'shake'
And as a reminder , setiap apa yang Allah cipta pasti ada kebaikan untuk makhlukNya.
