Salam Awal Muharam

It is a quiet day at my office. Boss and HODs are not around, to add up tomorrow is public holiday, most of my collegue are still on thier holiday. Even though tengah bz to finish this year end assignments and hoping that I could finish before boss coming back to office [masih ada 7 working days to catch up], can still 'curi2 masa' to look up for 'doa awal tahun, and 'doa akhir tahun'....where are all my friends who like sharing and forwarding all those emails. Guess have to 'google' as most of them might be bz spending time with famili and love one.

And while googling found this interesting blog entry and love it!

Well tak salah baca horoskop, untuk suka2 and most probably I will forget about this by the time I turn off my PC.

Thanks sis for your support =).

Selamat menyambut Awal Muharam! Isikan dengan amalan2 sunat:

Antara amalan disunatkan pada bulan Muharam:
  1. Berpuasa. Maksud Hadis: Barang siapa berpuasa satu hari dalam bulan Muharam pahalanya seumpama berpuasa 30 tahun. Maksud Hadis: Barang siapa yang berpuasa tiga hari dalam bulan Muharam, iaitu hari Khamis, Jumaat dan Sabtu, Allah tulis padanya pahala seperti mana beribadat selama 2 tahun.

Gila Kopi

Had a mug of Milo this morning and it dozed me off... I can't even see the structural drawing clearly. Feel like going to 'surau' and take a nap but its too early to do it [even though boss is on 2 weeks leave]. Tried tea before but just not so into it...kalau teh + 'biskot' kering memang sedap but not something to start your day with. Sekali sekala ok la. Trying hard to cut off my daily coffee consumption as advised by my dear fiancee. Well I've tried but just can't start my day with a cup of coffee... or Nescafe to be exact.

Just to share some history and facts about coffee collected from the net. Coffee is one of the world’s largest trading commodities – second only to oil. It was an Ethiopian goatherd called Kaldi who discovered this 'power berry' when he noticed his herd behaving like young kids after eating some stimulating red coffee berries! The goat keeper shared his discovery with the abbot of a nearby monastery, who decided to test the power of the berry himself. He poured boiling water onto the berries he had collected and made a drink which he found helped him to stay awake during long hours of prayer. A friend once told that coffee is one of our Prophets Mohammad favourite drink.

There are many kind of coffee drinks for you to try, and some come with this really bombastic fancy name that I'm sure most of us are familiar with, and I'll try to compare them with our local coffee name :

  • Espresso  [rich, dark coffee with golden cream (foam) on top] = kopi O 'kaw' kasi tarik sikit sampai ade buih.
  • Cappuccino [espresso + steamed milk in equal measure] = kopi [kopi + susu, sukatan ikut citarasa mau manis @ kurang manis]
  • Latte [espresso + steamed milk + frothed milk (foam) on top] = kopi 'tarik'
  • Granita de Caffe [espresso poured over crushed ice] = kopi O ais
  • Mocha [1/3 espresso + 1/3 hot chocolate + 1/3 steamed milk] = Neslo [Nescafe + Milo + susu]
  • Frappe [cold coffee, shaken with iced cubes] = kopi 'shake'
See.. all this fancy name after all is only a cup of coffee with some twist in flavor.

There must be some smart person behind the creation of Nescafe; coffee bean extract turns into soluble powder form. And I found it is a more convenience way to enjoy your coffee; no grinding and sieving , just a cup of hot water + 1/2 tbs (maybe reduce to 1/4 tbs) Nescafe + 2 tbs of sugar - enjoy!

And as a reminder , setiap apa yang Allah cipta pasti ada kebaikan untuk makhlukNya.

Are You an Emotional Packrat

This article was sent to me by a colleague..and its worth reading & sharing.

Are You An Emotional Packrat?

Confession time, until a few years ago I was an emotional packrat. While I would tell others to let stuff go, forgive and forget, and just move on, I would keep adding to my emotional baggage and never dealing with it.

I would hang on to these thoughts and feelings continually replaying different scenarios in my head. Each time I would think of things I should have said (or perhaps should have avoided saying). I would think of what I should have done differently, as if this replay would change the outcome.

There is a lot of damage that can come from hanging on to, storing, and replaying all of these past issues. It can cause an enormous amount of stress, anxiety, and even depression in some cases.

So how do you know if you you're an emotional packrat?
  1. You constantly replay past confrontations, conversations and situations in your head.
  2. You find yourself saying, "I wish I had said ______________." Or, "I should have done _________."
  3. You get anxious when you think of certain people or get stressed at the thought of running into someone in an otherwise completely nonthreatening situation.
  4. You find yourself worrying about what the other people are thinking of you.

So what can you do about it?
  1. Remember this one thing...You'd worry less about what people thought of you if you knew how little they did. This has been the single most effective thing to help me get over worrying about what other people were thinking of me. It really makes sense if you just think about it. How often do you think about other people? Your work mates, your hairdresser, your close friend? My guess would be not that often. Well, this works the other way as well. Just as you don't think about, gossip about or otherwise worry about other people it's unlikely that they are any different.
  2. Aim for simplicity. There are people who absolutely thrive on drama. They love the buzz and excitement it creates. Personally, I can't stand it. Drama adds unnecessary stress and complication to any relationship. Imagine someone always leaving stuff to the last minute and madly running around trying to get everything done on time? They try and suck you in by asking you to help out to get it done. The more you play their game the more you get sucked in and before you know it you're just as stressed and excited as the one that started it. Aim for simplicity and don't perpetuate other people's games by playing along, engaging them or encouraging the behavior.
  3. Admit you were wrong and move on.For most of us, when we do something wrong to someone else we feel guilt, regret and remorse. It's nearly impossible to let that go unless you're able to apologize or somehow make it right. This may require you to swallow your pride, "man up" and do the right thing. But, once you have and you have a clear conscience, release it. Even if the other person is still upset or unable to get passed it. That's their choice.
  4. Don't do it again. You screwed up, we all do, and if you're passed point 3 (above), don't let it happen again. Learn from your mistake and avoid having to go through it again in the future. This is the most valuable part of screwing up! :)
How to stop being an emotional packrat.
  1. Don't store it in the first place. When things come up deal with them. The advice given to every couple around the world "never go to bed angry" is applicable to everyone. Don't let things hang for a prolonged period of time. Deal with them as quickly as possible so they don't grow into something much, much bigger.
  2. Be picky. It's okay to be choosy when it comes to who you hang out with, what commitments you agree to and "games" you play or don't play. If there is one person in particular who tends to aggravate you more than anyone else consider reducing your interaction with them. If there is a drama queen (or king) in your midst don't react, don't engage and just let them figure it out. You don't need to take it all, or even part of it, on board and you don't need to help them every single time.
  3. Be okay with being you. You're not perfect, nobody is, and that's okay. Don't apologize for being who you are and instead be confident with being who you are. Try not to take so much on board.
There's a lot of talk these days about decluttering and simplifying our homes, schedules, and work environments I think we should also add our emotions to that list. Don't you?

Pitcher Plant aka Periuk Kera

This month November 2010 free wallpaper theme from ARTIMAGE http://artimage.com.my/ are the kiwi [fruit] (cooking-up idea) and pitcher plant (WWF-Malaysia) - also known as 'periuk kera'. Both are equally nice but I chose the 'Pitcher' because I love the unique 'date' design.

" A hidden beauty and many more yet to be discovered " reminded me of our trip to Similajau National Park.

While snapping Akram's photo at the main entrance,I spotted this tiny pitchers plant, no bigger than a paper clip. I took some pictures of this amazing tiny plant for memories [actually planned to pick one but just can't.. it's a national park, even though it grew on the border land <--- trying to be a good citizen~].

The picture is quite blur, I snapped using my Panasonic Lumix digital camera (older version the one that using the standard AA alkaline battery) courtesy of Kak Cik, she bought the camera for me few years back during my study at UTP...

Newly open bakery shop

Just coming back from outing [sori boss..kluar kejap je.bli brg and roti.lapa~]. Ade kedai roti baru bukak kt sebelah Maybank (Boulevard Commercial Centre). Formerly it was One Stop Superstore there. Last week I went to withdraw money to bayar all the hutang, smell something nice and yummy. So I stopped and there it was.. a newly open bakery shop. Look around for the sign - Seed Bakery House (if not mistaken la)... then I just walked passing the shop thinking "Halal ke?". But the shop looks nice and clean..so I decided to take a tour around the shop. I opened the sliding door and walked straight to the counter looking for 'Halal' certificate and it was there, pasted on the wall.

The shop is very clean, most probably because it is newly open and hopefully will maintain it cleanliness. What I like most is there is a see-through glass panel. You can see the bakers preparing the doughs and pastries and yes, the bread is indeed tasty.

Last weekend after coming back from dance class, I stopped by to get some buns and a slice of cheese cake.. to try out this homemade strawberry cheese cake ice-cream [I'll post the recipe later, can't remember where I put it].

My boss has just passes by and gives one big & sweet smile..haha. I smile back to him~.Got to stop writing blog and 'pura2' start compiling monthly report..

It all began with an iPhone

March was when my son celebrated his 15th birthday, and I got him an iPhone. He just loved it. Who wouldn't?

I celebrated my birthday in July, and my wife made me very happy when she bought me an iPad.

My daughter's birthday was in August so I got her an iPod Touch.

September came by so for her birthday i got my wife an iRon.

It was around then that the fight started......

LOL~  =D

Moving Out, Move On

Today will be the last two weeks my residence at Permayjaya before moving in to Senadin. A bit excited but haven't start 'peking' my things and belonging. I guest staying in Miri for almost two years, I have collected quite a number of boxes of item/things from clothing to kitchenware. Already work out the list, just the matter of sorting and 'peking' in the right box so that I wouldn't get lost in my new house. Maybe or should be this week for me to get started. 1 box t-shirt, 1 big trolley bag baju kurung, 2 containers tudung and misc, 1 box plastic ware.. hurmmm need another 2 boxes for misc item.. go buy at Kenyalang this weekend (20-30 cent per box). End of contract year need to book 1/2 cargo to transport my things MYY-KUL & a wagon KUL-KUA or maybe just use my father's 'green hummer'...haha.

Ahaa.. actually I haven't tendered my 'resignation' from lot 92XX. I've already tendered last week but was rejected due to unavailability of all 'members house' <-- this term was used by the 'Madame in Chief' [copyrighted tau~] and to be defered to next week..which means this week. Nnt lah ptg2 ckit I draft and send.. now bz writing post for my blog...dududu~
